The European Committee for the Use of Computers in Chemical Engineering Education – EURECHA – was established in 1976 to enable software for teaching and methods of computer-aided teaching to be exchanged between universities in Europe. Its aim remains that of mutual assistance between universities at the teaching level. Membership in EURECHA is open to academics from any university department (or equivalent institution) which has an interest in education in chemical engineering or allied subjects.

The Centre is named in honour of Professor Roger W.H. Sargent, whose ideas shaped generations of researchers and engineers. In 1989, he founded the Sargent Centre at Imperial College London and University College London. Since then, the Centre has become a global hub of excellence, research, and innovation.
